Manhattan Arch Landmark - In Game View
I developed the design guideline for this NYC landmark. The environmental artist used this guideline in creating the geometry, texture and detail for the landmark.
The challenge in designing such a landmark as this one is the issue of translating a familiar real world building into a game conducive environment and retaining the essence or signature of the building.
In reality the arch is a very open environment. For the game world the Manhattan Arch needed more enclosure. The primary facade view of the bridge approach is enhanced while terraces and belevderes along the side give the arch a sense of urban space and grandeur while focusing the player's attention through the arch to the bridge beyond.
